The Darke County Safety Council is co-sponsored by the Darke County Chamber of Commerce and the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation Division of Safety and Hygiene. Ohio has 82 safety councils across the state.

The Darke County Safety Council has a diverse membership of 67 businesses that include international manufacturing, agri-business, health care, trucking, financial institutions, school districts, public employers, insurance companies, consulting companies, construction, landscaping, EMS, and employment agencies.  In Safety Council meetings you will:  learn how to  assist your business in learning techniques for increasing safety in your workplace, learn how to better manage your workers’ compensation program, network with other employers in your community and access useful, money-saving workers’ comp and risk management information.

Companies can earn a 2-percent rebate on premiums. The rebate offer excludes self-insuring employers, state agencies and employers enrolled in BWC’s group-rating and group-retrospective programs. To qualify for the rebate, you must join your local safety council by July 31st of each year, attend 10 safety council meetings or BWC sponsored events, send a qualified senior-level manager to a safety council sponsored meeting, and submit semiannual workplace accident reports for the calendar year. Reduce either the severity or frequency of injuries by 10 percent, or keep both at zero, and you will earn an additional 2-percent performance bonus rebate.

Membership in the Darke County Safety Council will enable a business to take advantage of savings by eliminating or reducing workplace injuries and illnesses.  Membership is open to all companies in Ohio regardless of Chamber membership status. Companies must have a BWC policy number and have active BWC coverage status. There is a $100.00 annual membership fee.

Membership meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of each month from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the Brethren Retirement Community. The meetings include a lunch buffet and a safety related topic and speaker.
