New Teachers Breakfast
The Darke County Chamber of Commerce welcomed 65 new teachers on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at the New Teachers Breakfast held at Romer’s Catering in Greenville. More than 130 attendees enjoyed a breakfast buffet while meeting and encouraging the group of Darke County’s newest educational leaders. State Representative Jim Zehringer provided a welcome and led the Pledge of Allegiance, while Ambassador Ron Bonfiglio presented and interesting bit of history: The first new teacher welcome on record was
called “Teacher’s Coffee Hour” and was held on September 1, 1961. Superintendent of Schools Mike Gray was the keynote speaker with his presentation of positive advancements in education for Darke County.
