COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Business Resources

The Darke County Chamber of Commerce is closely monitoring the progression of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). Please note all chamber events have been canceled until we are told that it is safe to hold them again.

COVID-19 has already impacted many of our business members. The health and wellness of our members and the individuals that live in Darke County is critically important to us, so we want to provide the latest guidelines and information. Our goal is to minimize the impact on our community by looking to our public health experts for guidance related to COVID-19.

OHIO DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH


OHIO BUREAU OF WORKERS' COMPENSATION (BWC)

  • Insurance policy payments for March, April, and May can be deferred until June 1st, 2020. More information on the announcement may be found here.

  • CareWorks Comp has provided information regarding temporary changes in Ohio workers’ compensation and guidelines for work-at-home employees as we all navigate the COVID-19 pandemic crisis.


DEPARTMENT OF JOBS AND FAMILY SERVICES

  • SharedWork Ohio is a layoff aversion initiative for businesses aimed at curtailing unemployment during economic downturns.

  • Interested businesses must submit the names and the hourly schedules of employees to be uniformly reduced. JFS will then compensate these employees with unemployment benefits. Employers can find more information on eligibility here.

DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION

  • A special blanket permit for haulers carrying heavy or oversized loads of food, non-alcoholic beverages, medical supplies, cleaning products, and other household goods has been approved.

TECHCRED

  • Provides reimbursement for business upskilling employees through a select list of verified skill development programs.

  • Keep employees engaged from home or utilize downtime by growing employee knowledge. More information and how to apply can be found here.

SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (SBA)

  • Low-interest federal loans for working capital for small businesses and non-profits are now available.

  • Business owners should apply here.


DEPARTMENT OF LABOR (DOL)


CYBERSECURITY

  • U.S. Department of Homeland Security-Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) is monitoring cybersecurity threats and risk associated with the Coronavirus.

  • CISA has issued an alert on VPN Security and encourages organizations to review their recommendations when considering alternate workplace options or telework. Click here to learn more.


GOVERNMENT WIDE UPDATES

  • Federal government updates are being linked and concentrated here. Updates are included from the White House Task Force, Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Homeland Security, FBI, FDA, FDIC, and many others. Check for updates daily.


INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE (IRS)

  • Deadlines for filing taxes and any payments of due federal income tax have been delayed until July 15th, 2020.

  • The IRS has created a special section to assist taxpayers and businesses affected by the coronavirus. Information may be found here.
